Job Summary

We are seeking a Strategic Operations Director to join our executive team. This newly created role will support the development of our strategic plan to expand our mandate and grow our value proposition to members and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will serve as Head of Operations, overseeing committee and administration operations, processes, and Member Services. They will also be responsible for technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, and market operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the President & CEO to lead a team of professionals on key issues affecting members
  • Lead the review and implementation of modernizing IT infrastructure, enhancing committee processes, and implementing services to enhance our value proposition
  • Collaborate with other executives and teams on matters of common concern and interest
  • Support advocacy on legislation, regulation, and policy supporting dealer operations, industry risk management, and innovation
  • Identify and support industry initiatives addressing mutual fund, ETF, and separately managed account delivery through intermediaries
  • Help build industry consensus, developing IFIC positions and preparing position papers and regulatory responses
  • Serve as an ambassador for the industry, promoting the contributions of asset managers and dealers to wealth creation, capital formation, and the Canadian economy
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and participate in committees, working groups, and task forces as required
  • Liaise with international trade associations to address global issues affecting IFIC members
  • Proactively monitor industry operations trends and conduct analysis to convey insights to members

Requirements

  • A university degree in business or a related field, with advanced education such as a CPA designation
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, including leadership roles in Compliance, Operations, and/or Finance
  • Familiarity with securities regulatory frameworks and asset managers' and dealers' products and services
  • Knowledge of the fund industry, its investors, and stakeholder matters, as well as the financial sector generally
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • General understanding of public policy development
  • Analytical, planning, organizational, and execution abilities
  • Personable relationship-building capabilities
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with multiple levels within organizations
  • Ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to see the big picture while managing details
  • Sound judgment and strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of French is an asset

Work Environment

  • This role is based in Toronto, with limited travel expected. The office operates in a hybrid environment, with a minimum of 2 days per week in downtown Toronto offices

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
