Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Operations Director to lead our Brantford, ON plant. As a key member of our team, you will oversee all aspects of plant operations, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

About the Role:
  • Operations Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the plant, ensuring that production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are consistently met.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve plant efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize throughput without compromising product quality.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of department heads and production staff to ensure smooth plant operations.
    • Lead by example in fostering a positive and safety-conscious work culture, while ensuring high levels of employee engagement and productivity.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to team members to enhance performance and career development.
  • Production Planning & Scheduling:
    • Coordinate production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products to customers while minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment utilization.
    • Collaborate with the sales and supply chain teams to anticipate demand fluctuations and adjust production plans accordingly.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of quality.
    • Monitor expenses and implement corrective actions where necessary to stay within budget.
  • Quality Control & Continuous Improvement:
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company-specific quality guidelines (ISO, GMP, etc.).
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase product quality, reduce waste, and optimize processes through Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance:
    • Champion safety initiatives to maintain a safe and compliant work environment in adherence to OSHA and environmental regulations.
    • Investigate accidents and safety incidents, taking corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Provide regular reports to senior management on plant performance, production output, quality metrics, and employee performance.
    • Communicate with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that their needs and expectations are being met.
Requirements:
  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in plant management or operations management in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience managing large teams and overseeing day-to-day plant operations.
  • Leadership & Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop staff.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
  • Technical & Operational Expertise:
    • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, plant machinery, and automation.
    • Proficient in production planning, inventory management, and quality control systems.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:
    • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
    • Experience with regulatory audits and compliance requirements.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Certifications:
    • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
    • PMP or similar project management certifications.

$160,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
