Job Summary:

The Personal Care Assistant, also known as a Home Health Care Companion, provides clients with various personal care and homemaking services in accordance with a care plan. This allows clients to remain in their residence with independence and dignity.

Essential Functions:

  • Personal Care: Assist with safety supervision, showering, dressing, grooming, skin care, ambulation, range of motion exercise, and safe use of equipment and assistive devices.
  • Provide companionship and perform homemaking activities, including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning the client's bathroom.
  • Assist with medications that the client self-administers.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent certificate.
  • Meets passing criteria on the DEARS test.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.
