Mould Maintenance Specialist

The Mould Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, cleaning, and storage of all injection and compression molds onsite. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring the molds are well maintained to facilitate production requirements and meet the manufacturer's specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve the root cause of injection and compression mold machine issues when machines stop working.
  • Remove, install, set up, and hand over fully functioning injection/compression machines as per the established schedule.
  • Operate mobile material handling equipment to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair or machinery.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair all injection and compression molds.
  • Use tools and assemble and disassemble molds and operate all machine tools in a safe manner.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on all compression and injection molds up to and including stripping down, cleaning, replacing date plugs, and storing all injection/compression molds and cold runners.
  • Work with other classifications of employees in various activities such as plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all vital activities to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.
  • Ensure good housekeeping as per the standard and conduct themselves in a safe and orderly way as per the company policies and safe work practices.
  • Support and follow the 5S program.
  • Dispose of chemicals in the appropriate manner as outlined on labels.
  • Catalog and inventory all parts and tooling pertaining to mold service.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned when required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Strong mechanical abilities/aptitude.

Troubleshooting skills on molding machines are required.

Knowledge of Injection molding machines in general is required.

Rubber/plastics manufacturing experience is preferred.

Self-motivated and results-driven.

Problem-solving skills.

Effective communicator both written and oral.

Complexity and Judgement:

Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks requiring different and unrelated methods within authorized limits.

None

Contacts:

Interacts daily with hourly and salaried employees in the Production Team, Shipping department, Operational Excellence Team, Engineering, Maintenance, Sales, Quality Control, & other internal departments within HK.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of physical labor. The incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations. Light & Some Heavy Lifting
