Job Title: Manager - Budgets & Financial Planning

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - Budgets & Financial Planning to join our team at the City of Thunder Bay. As a key member of our Corporate Services Department, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Corporation's budget, tangible capital asset reporting, and long-term planning requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the City's annual operating and capital budget and long-term financial plan.
  • Manage the general ledger chart of accounts for the Corporation.
  • Participate in the development of strategic initiatives for the Division consistent with the overall strategic direction of the Corporate Services Department.
  • Collaborate with City officials, leaders, and members of City Council to help shape the City's annual budget.

Requirements

  • University degree in business administration, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation with a minimum of five years' progressively responsible management experience in municipal finance or business management.
  • Knowledge of regulations/legislation and processes related to financial reporting for local governments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with members of City Council, private and public officials, direct reports, co-workers, and the general public.
