About the Role
This Senior Communications Strategist position is a key member of our Calgary office team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing holistic communications strategies in support of our clients' goals. This may include corporate communications, investor relations programs, executive positioning campaigns, media relations strategies, and crisis management initiatives. As a strategic thinker, you will be able to navigate complex situations and ambiguous assignments with ease, ensuring seamless execution of our client programs.

The role requires a minimum of three days per week in the office, based in Calgary. If you are a motivated and entrepreneurial individual with excellent communication skills, this could be the ideal opportunity for you to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for Calgary-based client accounts, as well as supporting client work in Toronto, Montréal, and global offices.
  • Prepare high-quality written content, strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&As, briefing memos, and distributed media materials, while managing messages and coordinating client program activities.
  • Serve as a reliable resource for senior team members, capable of overseeing others and contributing to the business development process.
  • Participate in proposal development and pitch participation, as well as contribute to operational requirements in the office.

Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, media, or investor relations.
  • A strong track record of managing client relationships and delivering exceptional results.
  • Experience managing large teams, with a focus on mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to see complex projects through to execution.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape and demonstrated ability to engage with journalists and foster journalist relationships.
  • Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex and sensitive mandates.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and capital markets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms and media monitoring tools such as Meltwater.

What We Offer:
Teneo offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible time off policy, medical, dental, and vision coverage, long-term disability, life insurance, RRSP plan with corporate matching, team events, snacks, and other perks.
