The Opportunity
Corporate Facilities provides the City of Barrie with expertise in four key service areas: facility planning, design and construction; maintenance and property management, facility asset management and energy management.
As a Centre of Excellence for a large and complex inventory of physical assets, the department comprises all the necessary functions and lines of business to ensure the full life-cycle management of the City of Barrie's facility and property portfolios.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Facility Supervisor –Technical Services, the Senior Facility Services Technician position is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, inspection and repair the City of Barrie's corporate facilities.
Specifically, this position performs maintenance and responds to, troubleshoots and performs preventative, routine and emergency repair or replacement,including significant repairs on various facilities including the Surface Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Facility, Landfill, Marina, City Hall, Libraries, Police and Fire Facilities on infrastructure, structures, equipment and systems such as boilers, roof top units, electrical and plumbing systems.
Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring corporate facilities remain operational by maintaining and achieving maintenance goals, minimizing interruptions and maximizing operational efficiencies.

Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities of the positionDemonstrated experience in a complex, multi-facility work environmentDemonstrated experience using maintenance tools and equipmentDemonstrated experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, structural, roof systems, and door hardwareKnowledge/Skill/Ability
