**Job Title:** Forensic Nurse Specialist
About the Role:
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - CAMH is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Complex Care and Recovery Program. This full-time, permanent position will be based at our location on Queen Street West.
As a Forensic Nurse Specialist, you will be part of an inter-professional team providing clinical and risk management services to adults under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB). Your expertise in psychiatric-mental health nursing standards, nursing regulatory standards, and the CAMH Model of Care will be essential in delivering high-quality care to clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
You will work collaboratively with the clinical team to develop, implement, and monitor risk management plans, ensuring compliance with ORB dispositions and participating in the development of ORB reports. Your discipline-specific services will include formulating treatment plans, completing standardized assessments, motivational interviewing, and communicating with client social and community networks.
In this role, you will also support discharge-planning activities by identifying community and CAMH-wide resources that address client housing, income, and aftercare needs. You must have sound knowledge of these resources and be able to facilitate access to them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with inpatient units regarding new referrals
- Develop, implement, and monitor risk management plans
- Ensure compliance with ORB dispositions
- Participate in the development of ORB reports
- Provide discipline-specific services
- Formulate treatment plans
- Complete standardized assessments
- Motivational interviewing
- Communicate with client social and community networks
Requirements:
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
- Current CPR (BCLS-HP) certificate
- Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association (preferred)
- Sound knowledge and experience working within an interprofessional clinical environment
- Specific experience in psychiatric and forensic risk assessment and management (asset)
