Electrical Systems Expert with a Focus on Switchgear

We are seeking an Electrical Systems Expert to join our team in Langley, BC, Canada. As a key member of our Field Service Operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to internal and external field service groups, as well as engineering departments.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, including low and medium voltage switchgear, ATSs, automation controls, and back-up power systems. They will possess excellent technical written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with various levels of management and cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Support Field Service Technicians with commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems;
  • Provide technical assistance to both the service crew and clients on diagnosing issues, commissioning, data gathering, and executing maintenance activities on switchgears;
  • Develop Method of Procedure (MOP) guidelines for each site trip/project and implement ongoing improvements and updates on Service Forms and work instructions;
  • Communicate with Product Engineering/Design Teams on important product bulletins affecting service, software upgrades, product upgrades, or maintenance factors;
  • Provide technical training programs for customers and/or employees on new and existing products;
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and compliance with all company policies, emphasizing adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations;
  • Build, develop, and maintain exemplary customer and vendor relationships while maintaining a high level of quality and technical service;
  • Participate in factory witness/shop testing and collaborate with 3rd party equipment vendors to resolve recurring issues;
  • Provide feedback on issues found in the field to Manufacturing and Engineering regarding quality control or design criteria and product specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering, with 10+ years of technical experience in the Power Generation Industry. A strong track record of hands-on experience installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, upgrading, and retrofitting electrical distribution systems is essential.
