Birch Narrows Dene Nation Development Inc. (BNDDI) is a business development arm of Birch Narrows Dene Nation (BNDN). A Board of Directors governs the investment company, separate from Chief and Council. BNDDI is actively pursuing new investments and partnerships, growing an investment portfolio that will bring economic and employment benefits to BNDN. New and expanding industrial activity, namely uranium mining, has brought a multitude of business opportunities to the community that BNDDI is mandated to capitalize on.

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with partners, including Indigenous communities, industry leaders, government agencies, and key stakeholders. This position requires strong business acumen, experience in Indigenous business development, and a commitment to community-driven success. The location of the position is flexible and predominantly remote, however candidates located in Saskatchewan will be given preference.

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the benefits of BNDDI's ventures are directed back to the Birch Narrows Dene Nation community, including creating employment and training opportunities for community members.
  • Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors and shareholders (BNDN) ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to BNDDI's governance structure.
  • Implement and monitor strategies to mitigate operational, financial, and environmental risks in all business activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior leadership roles, preferably within Indigenous business development or economic development organizations.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and investments, particularly in industries such as mining and exploration, energy, and construction.
  • Strong understanding of environmental, social, and governance principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous leadership, ensuring cultural and community alignment.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges they face.
  • Commitment to sustainable development and community advancement.
  • Understanding of Indigenous business and community economic development corporations.
  • Being located in Saskatchewan is an asset qualification.
