Job Title: IT Technical Consultant

At Toronto Hydro Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled IT Technical Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure operations team, you will be responsible for implementing processes, systems, and projects that contribute to the efficient technical delivery of maintenance and improvement of our Database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database solutions to meet business requirements
  • Perform database administration tasks, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
  • Migrate and upgrade existing databases to ensure optimal performance
  • Provide after-hours database support and ensure timely resolution of production issues
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Apply latest security patches and complete health checks to prevent data breaches
  • Document Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Minimum seven (7) years progressive experience in Database Administration
  • Mandatory experience with Oracle database administration on Unix (AIX preferred), performance tuning, and debugging
  • Strong communication skills and ability to verbally communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, make sound decisions, and work collaboratively with team members
