Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant Job Opportunity

Baycrest Hospital is seeking a qualified Clinical Rehabilitation Therapist to provide clinical care to hospital clients, both inpatient and outpatient.

About the Role:

This role involves providing treatment services primarily to the Slow Stream Rehabilitation unit and may be re-assigned to other areas as clinical operational needs require. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of an inter-professional team to help patients attain maximum physical and functional goals to support return to living in the community as independently as possible.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out ambulation & transfer training, activities of daily living ('ADL') and instrumental activities of daily living ('IADL') for clients
  • Implementing upper extremity programs, lower extremity programs, range of motion/stretching programs, mobility training, transfer training, cognitive training, functional treatment, exercise classes, group treatment, and educational treatment for clients and/or caregivers
  • Providing indirect care such as sewing modification, adaptive clothing, positioning devices, environmental modification, wheelchair/walker modification, inventory check/maintaining equipment, and assisting clients in purchasing equipment
  • Participating in supervision of OTA/PTA students and volunteers
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT/PHYSIOTHERAPIST ASSISTANT (OTA/PTA) diploma from an accredited College program or equivalent experience with corresponding bridging programs. Recent and related rehabilitation experience with older adult populations is preferred.
