Strategic Communications Leader for Academic Portfolio

About the Role:
We are seeking a Strategic Communications Leader to join our team at The University of British Columbia. As a key member of our academic portfolio, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our communications and marketing efforts.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the university's overall goals and objectives. This will involve working closely with senior leaders across the institution, as well as external stakeholders, to build and maintain a strong brand reputation and promote the university's academic programs and research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that aligns with the university's overall goals and objectives
- Lead a team of communications professionals to execute the communications plan and ensure consistent messaging across all channels
- Collaborate with senior leaders across the institution to identify opportunities for communication and stakeholder engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including media outlets, government agencies, and industry partners
- Provide guidance and support to faculty members and staff on communication strategies and tactics
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of communications activities and outcomes
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum 9 years of experience in communications or a related field
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing effective communications strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
