Nursing Unit Clerk Position Summary

In this role as a Nursing Unit Clerk with Northern Health Authority, you will perform various clerical duties related to patient/resident care areas. You will act as a communication link for the unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient/resident appointments, arranging patient/resident tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, telephone answering, assembling/maintaining patient/resident charts, and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024, the new wage is: $28.31/hour

Dawson Creek & District Hospital is a 50-bed hospital that provides full-service healthcare, including inpatient care, emergency services, respiratory care, rehabilitation, surgery, obstetrics & gynecology lab, medical imaging, and cancer care. The hospital serves as the northeastern BC orthopedic and trauma centre, with visiting specialists in urology, dermatology, and pediatrics available.

Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must possess a Grade 12 diploma, medical terminology knowledge, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, along with one year's recent experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Key skills include effective verbal and written communication, ability to deal with others effectively, physical ability to carry out the duties, ability to keyboard 50 wpm, organizational skills, and the ability to operate related equipment.
