Job Title: Community Health Liaison

We are seeking a motivated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Community Health Liaison at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB).

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of clinical services to pregnant mothers, young children, and their families. As a Community Health Liaison, you will play a vital role in promoting health awareness in the community, including disease prevention and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison between healthcare providers and community members, facilitating communication and understanding of cultural values and practices.
  • Report on medical files after patient interactions, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, nutritionists, and social workers.
  • Provide emotional support to clients, advocating for their needs and well-being.
  • Participate in intervention plans, working towards positive outcomes for individuals and families.
  • Promote health awareness through outreach programs, workshops, and educational materials.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma required; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Fluency in Cree and English; French language skills are also beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate information from Cree to a second language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong motivation to work in a health field, with a focus on education, promotion, and prevention of illness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a sensitive approach to behavior problems.
Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $60,000 per year, based on the title, job description, and location.
