Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our inter-professional health care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-focused nursing care to patients in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients in the operating room, adhering to the nursing practice expectations set by Osler and regulatory standards.
- Comply with policies and procedures related to observations and infection control measures.
- Practice patient-centered care, ensuring patient safety and well-being, and creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions, to ensure continuity of care in the community.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the operating room, with a preference for experience within the last five years.
- Operating Room Certificate required.
- Current perioperative certification (CPN(c)) preferred.
- Knowledge of Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada standards of practice required.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and good standing.
- Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
- BCLS required.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centered care.
- Demonstrated experience with patient and family health teaching.
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team to develop appropriate strategies for patient care.
- Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
- Excellent physical assessment skills.
- Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
- May be required to travel and work between all Osler sites.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record.
- Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology.
