Job Overview

As a key member of the Qualico Canada team, the Site Foreman/Foreperson plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this position is responsible for providing support to ensure all site work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Superintendent in supervising site employees, ensuring compliance with quality standards, policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and remedy framing deficiencies, ensuring that all corrective actions are implemented.
  • Liaise with municipal inspectors and structural engineers to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and specifications to prepare schedules and reports, ensuring accurate and timely completion of projects.
  • Install fire stopping and back framing, and perform repair work as necessary, utilizing a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a range of equipment and tools, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with Qualico Canada's Safety Program, promoting a culture of safety and well-being among site employees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of construction experience, with a strong background in carpentry and building development.
  • Experience as a foreman or supervisor is preferred, with a proven track record of successful project execution.
  • Extensive knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment for construction sites, including a strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Physical ability to perform basic construction duties, with a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory verification of a criminal record check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal in Carpentry is preferred, with a strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Supervisory experience as a team lead, with a proven track record of successful team management and leadership.

Work Conditions

The Site Foreman/Foreperson will primarily work on site during regular business hours, with occasional travel to the regional office or other site locations. The position will involve exposure to noise from equipment/machinery, occupational hazards, and inclement weather, as well as dust and other environmental factors. Overtime may occasionally be required, with a focus on ensuring the successful completion of projects.
