Global Sourcing Strategist

This position will play a pivotal role in driving the global sourcing strategy for Pharmascience, fostering strong relationships with suppliers to ensure seamless supply chain operations.

The ideal candidate will oversee the management of existing supplier relationships, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing complex contract negotiations to drive costs out of the supply chain;
  • Collaborating with R&D to improve commercialization transition between R&D and external supply;
  • Resolving ongoing sourcing/supply issues and ensuring compliance with obligations;
  • Managing risk and ensuring the effective resolution of disputes;
  • Overseeing the improvement of supplier deliveries, increasing sustainable cost savings, and reducing operational costs;
  • Leading the competitive bid process, developing performance and evaluation criteria, awarding contracts, and evaluating vendor performance;
  • Ensuring timely contract development with agreed pricing, schedules, payment terms, and conditions;
  • Conducting quarterly business performance reviews with strategic Supply Partners and bi-annually or annually with tier 2 and 3 Supply Partners;
  • Working closely with Sales & Marketing and Product Managers to ensure accurate demand pictures are translated into Supply Plans for Supply Partners;
  • Continuously investigating the global market for new Supply Partners candidates and recommending inclusion/exclusion of Supply Partners as needed;
  • Supporting financial, COGS, and PPV budget process steps and being responsible for COGS reduction and PPV budgets;

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Improving supplier delivery, increasing sustainable cost savings, reducing operational costs, and effectively managing risk via the design and implementation of a Supplier Performance Management framework;
  • Developing and implementing a supplier life cycle management framework to identify, assess, onboard, segment, manage in-life, and exit suppliers in order to build an effective supplier network;
  • Designing and implementing standardized processes to execute, monitor, manage, ensure compliance, and terminate contracts (where applicable);
  • Leading the identification of additional savings and reduction of value leakage through assigned targeted contract reviews;
  • Leading relationships with assigned key suppliers, ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations and business partner requirements;
  • Responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing solid relationships with key internal stakeholders across the organization to ensure business needs are being met by assigned suppliers;
  • Acting as an internal consultant to business owners through a comprehensive understanding of supplier capabilities, market ecosystem, customer, and company needs to identify opportunities to expand existing supplier relationships;
  • Responsible for supporting management in the design and implementation of supplier base health and risk mitigation governance models;
  • Conducting regular risk assessments of supply partners and providing recommendations for cost optimization and risk mitigation related to procurement and inventory;
  • Acting as a coach/mentor to the procurement team to increase knowledge and skills within the team;

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Masters degree in Business Administration (an asset);
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years experience in Procurement of products and services in the Pharmaceutical or related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in Personnel Management;
  • Bilingual English / French (oral and written) as the incumbent will have to speak with and read & write documentation for suppliers located outside the province of Quebec;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a demonstrated collaborator;
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiations and contract management;
  • Excellent knowledge of Procurement best practices, policies, and regulations;
  • Ability to execute against multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment;
  • Good knowledge of financial and legal policies related to Procurement;
  • Strong organizational skills, mentoring skills, and project management skills;
  • Positive approach to change and proven aptitude for initiative and innovation;
  • Proficiency in MS office & SAP;
