Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to join our team at Aecon. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning, supervision, and execution of construction projects related to Marine Works and Civil Works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm the availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Notify team members and manager of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Review project specifications for quality control at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes.
  • Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary school education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines, or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in project engineering or heavy civil construction environment.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project.
  • Proficient in software related to the construction industry, such as Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, and SAP.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility to work in both field and office environments.
  • Valid BC driver's license.

Compensation

The expected pay range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000.
