As a member of our Civil team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of these projects.

Job Description

The Superintendent will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to on-site staff, establishing effective relationships, and maintaining a harmonious work environment. They will also be responsible for having thorough knowledge of contract documents, subcontract agreements, and drawings, as well as assisting the Project Manager in developing on-site procedures.

The ideal candidate will assist the Project Manager in developing project schedules, update progress, and ensure the job meets various milestones. They will also plan and review site construction programs, including quality control procedures, safety protocols, staging plans, equipment, and manpower.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating with and directing Field Engineers/Coordinators, inspecting activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and own forces, and chairing weekly safety meetings and coordination meetings. The Superintendent will also provide daily reports of work done and labor/material employed to the Project Manager and review/approve time cards, subcontractor requests for payment, material vouchers, and invoices.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need at least 8 years of related work experience in a construction supervision role, working on heavy civil construction projects. Experience on OPG or powerhouse projects would be considered an asset. You will also require advanced skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving, as well as excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

You should possess knowledge of office management systems and administrative procedures, basic math, accounting, and finance skills, and bilingualism (an asset) but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
