About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Framer-Carpenter to join our team at A Construction Ltd.

Job Overview

This is a permanent full-time position requiring a strong foundation in carpentry and framing skills. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in the construction industry and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs, ensuring accurate calculations for each project.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements, demonstrating attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials, adhering to high-quality standards.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations, effectively communicating with clients and stakeholders.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems, showcasing expertise in construction techniques.
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware, ensuring seamless integration with existing structures.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites, managing timelines and resources efficiently.
  • Survey building locations and levels, providing precise measurements and recommendations.
  • Supervise other workers, leading by example and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Estimate costs and materials, making informed decisions that balance quality and budget.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments, applying knowledge of building codes and regulations.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on carpentry and framing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using various tools and equipment, including power saws, drills, and sanders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • A valid driver's license, with a reliable vehicle for transportation to and from job sites.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced construction environment, with regular exposure to varying weather conditions. They will be required to lift heavy materials, bend, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits may include health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
