Job Summary

At CN, we are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting all procurement activities necessary to deliver value on their category.

Main Responsibilities

Procurement Management

  • Interact with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and promote value creation.
  • Conduct data analytics during different stages of the sourcing process.
  • Develop procurement strategy and supplier market knowledge.
  • Build and lead all aspects of Request for Proposals, evaluate supplier responses, and prepare business cases to submit for management approval.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers (commercial & legal clauses).
  • Direct contracts, supplier relationships, and supplier performance.
  • Work with Buyers to ensure all rates and agreements are appropriately administered in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process (SAP, Ariba, Fieldglass, etc.).
  • Ensure that all internal requirements in terms of compliance to procurement policy are met and addressed.
  • Participate and support department-wide projects when required.
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires minimal (0 to 20%) travel (infrequent and short trips). The position has a flexible work-from-home policy.

Requirements

Experience

  • Between 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role (Procurement Analyst).
  • Between 4 to 5 years of experience in a similar role (Senior Procurement Specialist).

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Law or equivalent.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand basic contract documents.
  • Ability to drive innovative analysis to understand market trends, cost drivers, suppliers, and best practices.
  • Strong technical skills related to data tools & presentation of data.
  • Understand strategic sourcing best practices.
  • Understand P2P.
  • Understand contract structure, terms, and conditions, and supplier performance principles.
  • Basic understanding of Incoterms, Customs, and documentation required for international imports.
  • Knowledge of commercial aspects of product/service categories.
  • Understand rail transportation or logistic industry.
