Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Security Administrator to join our team at McLean Hospital in Belmont. As a key member of our security department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, with rotating shifts including Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security or a related field, with experience in customer service, problem-solving, and crisis management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide protective services to people and property, responding to routine and emergency calls for service.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the department, including coordinating assignments and prioritizing responses to incidents.
  • Perform access control functions, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas.
  • Conduct initial investigations into reports of suspicious activity, persons, hazards, or risks, and take necessary steps to mitigate risk.
  • Use effective de-escalation techniques when addressing disorderly or disruptive individuals, and demonstrate reasonable application of physical force when necessary.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of security or related experience, preferably with a strong educational background in criminal justice or a related field.
  • A valid Massachusetts Driver's License and ability to obtain required certifications, such as CPR/AED/First Aid and CPI De-Escalation Training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people of different levels and cultures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and judgment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex situations.
  • A reliable and flexible individual with basic computer skills, typing, and use of database software.

Benefits

McLean Hospital offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
