Job Overview:

We seek a seasoned Cloud Computing Architect to lead technical engagements in Canada for Fortune 1000 customers. As the primary point of contact, you will interact with leadership teams at client sites, guiding a small offshore team (5-10 members) and managing project activities on-site.

This role involves leading a team to design and develop a highly scalable and extensible big data platform that collects, stores, models, and analyzes massive data sets from various channels. Your responsibilities will include:

Aligning Sigmoid with key Client initiatives

Interacting daily with clients across leading Fortune 500 companies to understand strategic requirements

Connecting with CIO, VP, and Director-level clients regularly

Translating business needs into effective technology solutions

Building a delivery plan with domain experts and maintaining it

Designing, developing, and evolving highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using Big Data technologies

Excellent experience in application development and support, integration development, and data management

Leading and managing a team on a day-to-day basis

Playing a key role in hiring future talent for Sigmoid

Guiding developers in design and coding tasks, stepping in to code when needed

Defining your team structure, hiring, and training team members as required

Staying up-to-date on the latest technologies to ensure maximum ROI for customers and Sigmoid

Hands-on coding expertise with a good understanding of enterprise-level code

Designing and implementing APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns to solve complex distributed computing problems

Experience in defining technical requirements, data extraction, data transformation, automating jobs, productionizing jobs, and exploring new Big Data technologies within a Parallel Processing environment

Facilitating technical aspects and helping Technical Architects understand client business constraints while drawing out architectures.

Building a business case around highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components designed by technical architects.

Leading integration efforts onsite with client technical teams.

Understanding client acceptance criteria and ensuring offshore technical teams adhere to these standards.

Receiving and monitoring technical deliverables from the offshore team and presenting them to client teams.

Qualifications:

A minimum 10-15 years' track record of relevant work experience, preferably in a Computer Science or related technical discipline.

A dynamic leader who has directly managed teams of highly skilled developers in fast-paced environments.

Experience in Architecture and delivery of Enterprise-scale applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Agile methodology.

Development and support experience in the Big Data domain.

Architecting, developing, implementing, and maintaining Big Data solutions.

Experience with database modeling and development, data mining, and warehousing.

Expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, Oozie, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kerberos, KAFKA, etc.)

Technical knowledge in AWS/GCS Stack, Vertica, Snowflake, Druid, plus experience with tech stacks involving S3, Lambda, Step Functions, sns, DynamoDB, AWS Glue, Airflow, Redshift, and BigQuery.

Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 per year, based on location and industry standards.
