Travel Operations Specialist

We are looking for a dynamic Travel Management Specialist to join our team at VOLKSWAGEN Group.
Based out of St. Thomas, Ontario, this role will be part of the ramp-up team for our North American operations. As a key member of our HR team, you will work closely with colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, Ontario, and our PowerCo SE team members at Headquarters in Germany.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide professional support in negotiations with service providers and travel agencies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with preferred partners for travel services, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Responsible for determining travel policies and regularly adapting them to local, legal and corporate requirements.
- Provide professional support in optimizing the procurement process for all travel services, including consolidating demand.
- Oversee and control travel expenses at a higher level in alignment with travel policy guidelines.
- Conduct quality controls and generate reports on processes and workflows, highlighting necessary improvements.
- Foster an employee-oriented approach to travel management, addressing inquiries and providing professional assistance to enhance overall employee experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, vocational training as a travel agent, or a comparable qualification.
- Working experience in SAP Concur.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in travel management.
- Project management experience considered an asset.
- Familiarity with the purpose and logistics of corporate travel.
- Experience with local and global travel practices.
