Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead projects and provide technical expertise to the Engineering department and maintenance personnel at Gerdau North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage CAPEX and non-CAPEX projects at the Whitby Mill, with potential to work on projects at the Cambridge Mill
  • Integrate new technologies into the plant to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Train and develop employees in technical and project-related information
  • Conduct technical studies to support CAPEX investments and support process improvement projects
  • Oversee substation modifications, upgrades, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Develop and manage internal engineering and project management procedures
  • Provide engineering services for department projects and cost justification
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and troubleshooting programs for plant PLCs and computer control systems
Requirements
  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience, with a specialty in a steel-related field
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction techniques used in industrial design, construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to continuous improvement efforts and maximize department efficiency
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and work with associates at all levels
  • Knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Office, and electrical safety and building codes
