This exciting opportunity for an Industrial Mold Fabricator will be based out of our state-of-the-art injection moulding plant facility in Barrie, ON. Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture mould components and ensure precise fitting of parts to the mould.
  • Assemble or adjust complete moulds or segments to bring them to operational state.
  • Document labour hours and complete work order paperwork using our efficient system.
  • Assist in training other Canplas personnel in areas related to the Department.
  • Maintain safety protocols for personnel performing post-moulding machining operations on moulded plastic parts.
  • Actively participate in 5S, Hazards Made SAFE, and continuous improvement programs. Engage in waste management and environmental training initiatives.
  • Contribute to implementing and maintaining 5S activities in the Mould Shop.
  • Ensure adherence to HWIN Manifest procedure.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned.

Requirements:

  • Certified Industrial Mold Fabricator or licensed Tool and Die Maker with minimum 5+ years' experience in a mould shop setting.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in Plastics Manufacturing in a Mould Making or Tool and Die position.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Familiarity with operating metal working machinery, including moulds with slides, lifters, mechanical pull and set operations, polishing experience.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision on various-sized injection moulds, some with hot runner systems.
  • Experience working to defined tolerances, utilizing jigs and fixtures.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for determining root cause of issues and solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a strong desire to collaborate within a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Bonus points if you have training or knowledge on welding, familiarity with CNC, EDM, hot runners, and CAD Programming.
Working Conditions:

This role requires a high degree of mobility, involving regular walking, standing for extended periods, reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50lbs alone. You will work in a fast-paced environment with considerable sensory attention required. Personal safety may be affected by exposure to heat, odours, cold, dust, noise levels, and sharp tools. The facility is semi-climate-controlled to prevent Heat Stress.
