About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Utility Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Utility Worker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Your primary responsibilities will include performing general repetitive tasks in maintaining assigned areas, adhering to established standards, and observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. You will also participate in On-the-Job Training programs, seek clarification of duties when indicated, and offer assistance and/or instruction to co-workers.

We are looking for a team player who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates a professional manner in work settings, and channels suggestions, concerns, and queries to appropriate authority. About You

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12/GED required or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods that apply to a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, part-time position with 52.5 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $20.02. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
