Pediatric Oncology Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pediatric Oncology Nurse to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in our Pediatric Oncology/Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant unit, you will provide direct patient care to children and their families, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver family-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement care plans and collaborate with the healthcare team to evaluate patient care.
- Plan direct care for patients, including reviewing patient history, developing care plans, and meeting with the healthcare team to discuss care plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting health information, nursing observations, and interventions.
- Teach patients, family members, and caregivers about procedures, equipment, and techniques.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- One year recent related experience in the designated clinical area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families and others.
- Ability to function as an active member of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Ability to demonstrate effective CPR techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable computer software.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
