About the JobThe Pedagogy Specialist will provide strategic leadership to enhance teaching and learning at Thompson Rivers University. This role involves collaborating with faculty, administrators, and teaching assistants to design and coordinate initiatives that strengthen pedagogical principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities- SUPPORTING FACULTY DEVELOPMENT: Provide individual and group consultations, workshops, and other events to support faculty in developing effective and innovative pedagogical practices.
- STRATEGIC PLAN IMPLEMENTATION: Contribute to the actioning of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) Strategic Plan.
- LEADING CHANGE: Lead the process of innovative change to develop and ensure best practices in teaching and learning.
- SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING: Promote the scholarship of teaching and learning, and advocate for scholarly teaching.
- EMERGING AREAS: Act as a resource in emerging areas in post-secondary teaching and learning.
- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Collaborate to design, promote, and provide professional development opportunities for faculty.
- INSTITUTIONAL INITIATIVES: Contribute to and collaborate on relevant institutional initiatives such as learning outcomes, curriculum design, assessment, course evaluation, and accreditation.
- COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION: Participate on committees where teaching and learning are integral, including university committees that require CELT representation.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise and excellence in teaching, experience in curriculum development at the degree level, and a strong knowledge of current practices and trends in the field. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team.
The successful candidate will also have demonstrated a commitment to the goals of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT).
Requirements- TENURED INTERNAL FACULTY MEMBER
- PHD/EDD OR REQUISITE TERMINAL DEGREE; MASTER'S DEGREE WITH SIGNIFICANT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED
- FIVE (5) YEARS OF DIRECTLY RELATED EXPERIENCE INCLUDING THREE (3) YEARS' EXPERIENCE AS AN EFFECTIVE AND SCHOLARLY INSTRUCTOR AT THE POST-SECONDARY UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE LEVEL, OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT THEORIES AND PRACTICES IN ADULT EDUCATION, PARTICULARLY WITH RESPECT TO INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGIES, LEARNING OUTCOMES, TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING, AND HIGH IMPACT PRACTICES IN POST-SECONDARY TEACHING AND LEARNING
- DEMONSTRABLE ABILITY TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT ENHANCED TEACHING AND LEARNING AND CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
