Electronics and Mechatronics Innovation Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our High Throughput Robotics team as a co-op or intern for an 8-month term, starting in May. As an Electronics and Mechatronics Innovation Specialist, you will design and build mechatronic systems to upgrade our nanofabrication equipment, including precision prototypes.
Your Responsibilities
- Conducting a rigorous design process to improve existing equipment
- Understanding equipment requirements using technical product manuals and internal team knowledge
- Generating concepts and creating detailed CAD designs
- Assembling and testing precision prototypes with 3D printed, machined, or off-the-shelf parts
- Validating designed equipment in a cleanroom environment and monitoring its performance during production
Requirements and Qualifications
- Pursuing an Engineering degree in a relevant field, such as Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
- Outstanding communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills
- Attention to detail and creative thinking
- Familiarity with Solidworks or similar CAD software
- Interest in working with electronics, stepper motors, and linear actuators
- Comfortable with shop tools and designing parts with manufacturing processes in mind
- Experience in a cleanroom environment is an asset
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $33,000 - $37,000 CAD per month, based on your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, you will receive a vacation allowance, additional days off, and sick leave time while on your internship.
