About the Opportunity

The Dietitian is responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities. This role involves leading interprofessional teams to support the nutritional health of patients, promoting health, preventing disease, and providing treatment and rehabilitation services. The Dietitian will participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns. The successful candidate will employ an evidence-informed approach to practice and contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, and ensuring quality and continuity of care.

This is a designated position, and the successful candidate must self-identify as a member of one of the designated groups: African Nova Scotian or other Black/African Decent, Indigenous People, People of Colour, Persons with Disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, or Foreign Nationals/Newcomers.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized university
  • Dietetic Internship Program completion
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Dietitian, preferably in inpatient clinical nutrition
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience in patient counseling and WHMIS certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure
  • Participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a 100% FTE, 75 hours biweekly. The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
