About the Role

The Labour Relations Specialist provides expert guidance and advice on labour relations and employment law to the line organization and Human Resources team. This role works closely with Labour Relations Advisors to support negotiations, investigations, and arbitrations, and provides compliance and risk-based advice on collective agreements and University policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply collective agreements and associated policies and procedures
  • Provide labour relations and employment law guidance and advice to the line organization and Human Resources team
  • Support first-level negotiations and step-1 grievances
  • Conduct investigations and develop reports
  • Draft bargaining proposals and oversee the exchange of documents with the union
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management, or a relevant discipline, and three years of related experience in labour relations. They will also have excellent knowledge of labour and employment legislation and government policies, as well as software applications including Human Resources Information Systems.
