Licensed Practical Nurse Operating Room

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Operating Room team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide practical nursing services in an operating room environment, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Responsibilities:- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care during pre-operative, operative, and post-operative periods.
- Perform admission duties, including assessing individual patient needs and planning nursing care in collaboration with the RN and other members of the perioperative team.
- Perform scrubbing duties, working directly with the surgeon within the sterile field, passing instruments, sponges, and other items during the surgical procedure.
- Perform circulating duties, assisting the primary circulating nurse as required, and collaborating with other members of the perioperative team.
- Alert the RN to any problems, changes, or unusual signs or symptoms of the patient while in the operating room setting.
- Document observations, treatment, and other patient care activities during the pre, intra, and post-operative periods.
- Attend staff meetings and quality improvement rounds to provide and obtain information and feedback about patients and patient care.
- Assist with orientation of new staff, demonstrating work procedures as required.
- Attend educational sessions, in-services, and workshops to facilitate knowledge enhancement and technology changes.
- Perform related clerical duties, including answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages, and assisting in maintaining standardized records.
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies.
- Graduation from an accredited O.R. Program for Licensed Practical Nurses plus one (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
- Current basic cardiac life support certification.
As per the current Public Health Orders, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
