Compensation Package

A competitive salary of $120,000 per year, reflecting the market's standard for this role and location, will be offered to the successful candidate.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director of Software Development and Innovation to join our engineering team. This key leadership position involves managing a team of 12-18 software developers and collaborating with directors, team leads, product managers, and designers to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Management
  • Recruit top engineering talent through active participation in the hiring process.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding for new team members, promoting a smooth transition into the team.
  • Maintain high levels of engagement and motivation among team members to retain top talent.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions to foster growth within the team.
  • Promote Amilia's culture and values, leading by example and adopting behaviors that embody them.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and collaborate with the engineering leadership team to implement changes enhancing efficiency and quality.
  • Communicate effectively, prioritizing change management to ensure the team shares a common understanding of all decisions.

  • Support the growth of a healthy engineering management practice at Amilia.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and promotion of the engineering career progression framework.
  • Nurture a culture of continuous improvement and growth through personalized coaching, communities of practice, engaging team events, and regular learning opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices, actively participating in conferences and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma (DEC) in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record in leading and managing successful software development teams.
  • Extensive experience as a software developer, essential for understanding technical challenges, with deep knowledge and expertise in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean methodologies.
  • Exceptional mentoring and knowledge-sharing abilities, fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Strong influence and communication skills, capable of engaging team members, peers, and directors.
  • Bilingual, both spoken and written (French and English).
  • Contagious and courageous leadership with resilience and adaptability.
  • Excellent organizational and priority management skills, with an analytical mind and strong decision-making abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a quality-oriented mindset.
  • Initiative and autonomy, with the ability to collaborate effectively as a team player.
