Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distribution Centre Coordinator to join our team at Atkore International Group Inc. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will be responsible for leading the distribution warehouse team to plan and execute distribution operations to achieve Next Day Shipping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the distribution team to ensure timely execution of shipments and meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Innovation goals.
  • Monitor progress of major shipments and ensure timely execution to promise dates.
  • Ensure the distribution team understands and meets all Atkore Environmental Health & Safety Policies.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain necessary distribution documentation, standard work, inventory lists, and other record keeping for the site.
  • Facilitate team involvement and commitment to resolving storage, transportation, invoicing, and shipping issues using lean tools to implement countermeasures.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are updated by effective record keeping and maintained to drive effective receipt, handling, storage, and distribution of product.
  • Research RMAs and returns along with complaints with turnaround time of 2 hours.
  • Cutting BOLs and entering tracking and ensure flatbeds are dispatched and accepted by carriers using reporting.
  • Review and recommend improvements for existing distribution policies and procedures on a routine basis while managing the record keeping.
  • Schedule and assign Warehouse Team Tasks with an emphasis on teamwork, lean concepts, and continuous improvements related to site goals.
  • Utilize the shipping schedule to maintain a flexible and effective dock schedule and Pareto any issues.
  • Track performance of all Logistics Metrics to ensure required service levels are met and report out Pareto on our weekly Commercial Metrics call.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to facilitate resolution for both internal and external issues while tracking KPIs and TTI's at our daily Gemba meeting.
  • Flex into supporting DC Supervisors as needed to ensure efficient operation of the business.
  • Proactively support lean efforts by promoting and/or teaching lean concepts to the DC Office.
  • Lead the team in implementing lean concepts, ensure follow-through on actions, and ensure KPIs are posted and up to date.
  • Participate in S+Safety auditing.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior, good business judgment, and strong team interaction skills.
  • Encourage and be receptive to suggestions and new ideas. Recommend new techniques, systems, and procedures.
  • Provide clear, concise instructions. Assist in resolving technical issues by providing Pareto of issues and countermeasures.
  • Guide team members in decision-making processes.
  • Assist in determining the skill level of each team member and coordinate training to increase team members' job knowledge and skillset.
  • Provide input on reviews, development plans, and goal setting.
  • Assist with follow-up to ensure that development goals are achieved.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in distribution coordinator experience, preferably in a distribution center or understanding of internal processes.
  • Knowledge of distribution center management in areas such as bulk and pick-pack.
  • Knowledge of LTL, TL, and containerized shipments.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office.
  • JDE Experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Six Sigma/Lean experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of metrics used to assist management in a warehouse environment.
