Steel Design Engineer

Vulcraft Canada is a leading manufacturer of steel joists and decks, serving the Canadian market with multiple locations throughout the country. As a Steel Design Engineer in our Ancaster, Ontario location, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for creating optimized designs for steel structures.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Steel Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural design, preferably with experience in the steel joist/deck or structural steel design/fabrication/erection industry. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze complex problems, think strategically, and provide innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform thorough reviews of contract documents, including structural drawings, architectural drawings, mechanical drawings, and project specifications to extract relevant design information.
- Utilize proprietary design software to create optimized designs for steel joists and decks.
- Provide clear direction to fellow teammates, detailers, and production personnel to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
- Communicate job requirements and queries externally with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural design.
- Currently registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible for future licensure.
- Strong understanding of structural steel analysis and design principles, including concepts of truss action, diaphragms, welding, and bolting.
- Two or more years of experience in the steel joist/deck or structural steel design/fabrication/erection industry.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, including architectural and structural drawings.
- French language skills considered an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive benefits program.
