About the Role



This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Travelling Troubleshooting Technician. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing and reporting on various troubleshooting tasks, turbine inspections, and component repairs.



Key Responsibilities




  • Perform pre-defined, technical tasks, such as basic engineering and maintenance jobs, on-site.
  • Coordinate and accomplish defined service operations and/or resolve product issues for customers' equipment.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and comprehend procedures.
  • Travel to locations in the U.S. and/or Canada with no restrictions.
  • Inspect drivetrain components, including main shaft and bearings, gearbox, gears, and bearings.
  • Work in confined/enclosed spaces and be comfortable with heights.
  • Assist in troubleshooting drivetrain-related issues, including pumps, sensors, brakes, cooling units, filters, and more.
  • Prepare and provide reports on inspection and repair activities.
  • Test electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions, replacing worn or malfunctioning components.


Requirements




  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, diagnostic tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to work within maximum safety guidelines using personal protection equipment.
  • Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by safety regulations.
  • Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions and meet physical demands of the position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass pre-hire background drug screening.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada.


Preferred Qualifications




  • Senvion, SGRE Direct Drive (D3), SG4X 145 experience is a plus.
  • Certification from a Renewable Energy or Wind Technical Program.
  • Hands-on work experience as a Wind Technician on a Wind Farm.
  • Relevant work experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial, or automotive industry.
