About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions team, you will play a vital role in facilitating access to mental health and addiction services for individuals across the province.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing screening tools, risk assessment, and clinical triage to determine the most appropriate course of action for clients
  • Providing brief supportive counseling and psychoeducation to clients and their families
  • Building working relationships with community resources and mental health teams to ensure seamless access to services
  • Identifying client needs and directing them to sources of support
  • Acting as a liaison between community resources and mental health services

About You

We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work
  • Registration with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Two years of related experience in mental health and addiction services
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns
  • High degree of motivational interviewing skills and engagement techniques
  • Experience utilizing screening and triaging tools

Hours
  • Full-Time Long Assignment; 75 hours biweekly
  • Assignment Length Approximately 12 months
  • Hours may include some evenings until 8pm and holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$42.89 hourly
