About the Role

The Perinatal Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care to childbearing patients and their families during the intra, postpartum and high risk antepartum periods. This includes conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the inter-professional care team to ensure seamless care delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients and unborn babies on admission and at regular intervals
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and preferences
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional care team to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on topics essential to their health care and well-being
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities to promote safe and effective care delivery
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • One year's recent, related clinical perinatal nursing experience in the designated clinical area
  • Completion of post-graduate basic course work and/or certification in perinatal nursing applicable to the designated clinical area
