Job Title: Program Supervisor - Respite Home Coordinator

The Link is seeking an experienced Program Supervisor to coordinate and implement strategies, plans, programs, projects, tools, data, and reports for our new respite home, Kent Road Lodge. The successful candidate will have a strong background in human services, leadership experience, and a demonstrated understanding of Indigenous issues and concerns within a child welfare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and implement strategies, plans, programs, projects, tools, data, and reports for the Kent Road Lodge.
  • Ensure accountability to achieve the strategic directions of the organization.
  • Motivate, lead, and supervise the Kent Road Lodge team members to achieve the aims of the organization.
  • Coordinate and maintain reporting expectations for the program.
  • Represent The Link: Youth and Family Supports both externally and internally.
  • Participate in hiring and interviewing of staff within the program.
  • Promote and comply with various legislations, including Workplace Safety and Health Act, Public Health Orders (COVID-19), Human Rights Act, and Department of Families Licensing Standards.
  • Promote and liaise with the external environment to determine the future needs and direction of the program.
  • Ensure casework is based on the program purpose statement.
  • Implement program policies.
  • Prepare and work within a budget for the program.
  • Undertake new endeavors based on community and organizational needs.
  • Network with community resources and address external requests.
  • Attend team meetings and training as required.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Services or a combination of education, work experience, and lived experience may be considered.
  • Five (5) years of progressive related experience working with families in a supportive manner.
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience, leading teams and programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for issues and concerns of Indigenous peoples within a child welfare environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective problem-solving ability and strong communication skills.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and youth with an array of behavioral needs.
  • Strong counseling skills and experience in Relational Care, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Person-focused crisis resolution and clinical counseling experience.
  • Business management and public relations training preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of systems for children in care, school, family functioning, and child welfare preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to adapt to changing circumstances or conditions with flexibility and compassion.
  • Knowledge of strength-based philosophy and knowledge of Indigenous culture and language preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR Level C.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry Check with acceptable Prior Contact Check outcomes, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check; all completed within the last 3 months.
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and/or any de-escalation training preferred.
  • Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk.
  • The Link Commit 2 Kids Training.
  • Certification in either DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions).

HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week and required to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour with a benefit package, pension plan, paid sick leave, vacation, and paid personal leave days.
