Assistant Manager

Craftsman Collision is a leading auto body repair chain in Canada, committed to excellence and employee satisfaction. We're seeking an experienced Assistant Shop Manager for our Edmonton location.
The successful candidate will promote a high-performing shop culture, focusing on profitability, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, safety, and employee engagement. Key responsibilities include:
Operations Leadership
Support daily operations, provide leadership, and ensure stakeholder objectives are met in a safe, effective, and positive manner. Manage shop operations in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW) and support daily production, workflow, and quality control.
Work with the Shop Manager, Operations team, People and Culture team, and Health, Safety, and Environment Manager to ensure compliance with provincial and national regulatory standards. Write estimates and schedules repairs as required.
People Leadership
Support overall direction, provide coaching, and leadership to the shop team. Foster a work environment that empowers employees to make decisions and contribute to a customer service-oriented culture.
Health and Safety
Promote a shop culture where Health and Safety is a priority. Ensure shop facility and team members follow all Health and Safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
Customer Service
Support the team in providing the highest levels of customer service, both internally and externally. Resolve customer service concerns and escalate to the Shop Manager where appropriate.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive industry or related experience, including experience in sales, customer service, management, or leadership.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- I-CAR Platinum certification an asset.
- Proficiency in Mitchell Estimating, Audatex, ALLDATA an asset.
- Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset.
- Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and other decision-makers.
- Demonstrated aptitude to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with customer service-oriented attitude.
- Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms with the ability and willingness to learn new applications.
- Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development.
- Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions.
- Occasional travel within Canada and to the US may be required for company functions.
