Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager
  1. Lead and coordinate mechanical projects of varying sizes and complexity, from schematic design through construction.
  2. Prepare load calculations, assist in energy modeling, develop mechanical systems, and incorporate them into the overall design.
  3. Coordinate mechanical systems and designs with other disciplines to ensure successful project outcomes.
  4. Analyze client proposals and specifications to determine cost-effective solutions.
  5. Lead project teams, provide guidance to clients, technical staff, and subconsultants to ensure technically sound and successful project completion.
  6. Manage project schedules and cost summaries to track progress, budget status, and resource utilization.
  7. Determine required resources to meet project deadlines and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  8. Provide internal quality and cost control during the design and construction process.
  9. Represent the company at design and construction meetings with clients and contractors.
  10. Prepare and review specification reports and concept documents.
Design Expertise:
  1. Prepare detailed REVIT and AutoCAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups, or designs created by yourself or others.
  2. Lead the detailed design of various project sizes and delegate tasks or scopes to team members.
  3. Supervise mechanical designers and intermediate mechanical designers, providing technical guidance to clients and other sub-consultants.
  4. Mentor and supervise Mechanical Designers, Intermediate Mechanical Designers, and Intermediate Mechanical Engineers, reviewing their work before submission.
  5. Have a strong understanding of construction and perform site reviews when necessary.
  6. Analyze client proposals and specifications to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective design solutions.
  7. Select mechanical equipment, working with suppliers and manufacturers' representatives.
  8. Prepare schematic designs, design developments, and construction drawings.
  9. Develop mechanical specifications and perform peer reviews of colleague's drawings and designs.
  10. Deliver complete, fully reviewed projects, and assist contract administration with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and design changes.
  11. Foster high-quality workmanship and project timelines through continuous workflow improvements and design standards.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  1. P.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience as a Professional Engineer in the jurisdiction.
  2. Detailed understanding of all building systems, including architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and fire systems, and how they impact mechanical systems.
  3. Strong knowledge of current codes and standards, such as applicable plumbing and building codes.
  4. Excellent written skills and proficiency in software programs like Microsoft Word, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
  5. Understanding of financials as they apply to projects, including work backlog, WIP, project costs vs budgets.
  6. Ability to schedule, mentor, and manage project teams of 1-3 people on 2 or more concurrent projects depending on size and complexity.
