Senior Project Cost Management Specialist

Aecon is a leading construction company with a strong presence in Canada's infrastructure and transportation sectors.

We are seeking a Senior Project Cost Management Specialist to join our team based out of the Montreal office.

As a key member of our project controls team, you will be responsible for providing cost management guidance and support to project teams.

Your primary objective will be to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project cost control systems
  • Provide proposal and estimating support to ensure continuity between project estimates and project baselines
  • Support the development of detailed, resource-loaded schedules
  • Assist project teams in converting project bids into accurate project baselines (budget, schedule)
  • Set up project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit)
  • E nsure all contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking, and project closeout
  • Monitor project performance and ensure proper implementation of the project control system
  • Generate required project status reports for internal management and customers, including the overall project dashboard and project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.)
  • Review and analyze project schedule and cost reports, suggesting corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost and schedule
  • Implement change management procedures ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon standards
  • Support project teams in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status

Requirements:

  • 1-2+ years of related project controls construction experience
  • College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must be able to travel to projects
  • Must possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle
