About the Job:

The Healthcare Support Worker (Patient Care Aide) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within our hospital setting.

  • Provides personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to patients
  • Assists with patient mobility, transfers, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient care
  • Performs nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health
  • Maintains a safe and healthy environment by performing housekeeping activities
  • Observes and reports changes in patient progress, symptoms, and condition to healthcare team
  • Performs clerical duties and other related tasks to support patient care

As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, the Healthcare Support Worker (Patient Care Aide) works under the direction of RNs and LPNs to deliver patient care according to established care plans and routines.

This is a casual opportunity, with hours not guaranteed and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights, rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.


About this location/unit:
The Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) provides core medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area. Located in Vernon, between Kelowna and Kamloops, VJH offers services including core physician specialties, 24-hour emergency and trauma services, acute and obstetrical care.
