Job Description

The Pet Valu family of stores, including Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet, is one of the largest retail operations in North America dedicated to providing families with food and supplies for various pets.

We partner with local shelters, rescues, and charities for adoption events, in-store adoption (select stores only), pet food bank programs, and national donation drives. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will coach and develop your store team to deliver exceptional customer service, helping Pet Parents find the right nutrition and solutions for their pets.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all customer service standards are met by staff, maintaining courteous relationships within the community.
  • Manage a team of employees, including recruiting, scheduling, training, task assignment, supervision, and coaching.
  • Operational Standards/Procedures: Ensure all staff adhere to corporate-set standards and procedures.
  • Administrative activities: Coordinate order placements, maintain inventory, complete store audits and safety audits, coordinate minor repairs, and complete miscellaneous corporate paperwork.
  • Business Results: Coordinate store staff efforts to achieve targeted results.
Requirements

A minimum of 2 years' experience in customer service and retail store management is required. Reliable transportation to and from the store is essential.

You should be able to observe and coach employees to provide feedback on sales techniques and excellent customer service. Industry experience is an asset.
