Job Overview:

  • Develop detailed production schedules in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager to guarantee line capacity, labor, and materials are available to meet those plans.
  • Responsible for creating daily and weekly production schedules at least 3 weeks in advance based on approved sales forecasts/activities and defined inventory levels, minimizing revisions to the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Create and submit purchase orders based on established lead times and follow up with suppliers for assigned categories (protein, packaging, and consumables) to support the schedule.
  2. Be informed of any protein, packaging, or consumable shortages and/or changes in delivery impacting schedules.
  3. Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Production Manager to communicate adjustments to the schedule due to material availability and/or line downtime.
  4. Attend daily or weekly meetings as requested to update Production on material availability.
  5. Follow up on protein orders to match the production schedule and open POs.
  6. Maintain the master build schedule for production schedules with the Supply Chain Manager based on MRP (at least 12 weeks rolling) to provide adequate lead time to plan, order, and receive ingredients and protein.
  7. Request and/or lock-in assigned materials scheduled 3 weeks in advance to avoid changes as part of the schedule conformance targets.
  8. Lead weekly production plan review and alignment meetings to review and refine the weekly production schedules with Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager, and Production Manager, confirming availability of required inputs, including protein, ingredients, packaging, and labor, and minimizing changes to locked-in production schedules.
  9. Lock-in weekly production schedules at least 3 weeks in advance of production and minimize changes during the lock-in period.
  10. Attend daily meetings with Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Production Supervisors to communicate the schedule and help manage requests to adjust the schedule in response to unscheduled mechanical downtime or protein shortages.
  11. Compile information from Supervisors at periodic intervals throughout the day, including production rates and progress.
  12. Confer with Plant Buyers and Inventory Coordinators to coordinate production requests.
  13. Work with Plant Buyers and Inventory Coordinators to ensure the right ingredients, packaging, and protein quantities are ordered with sufficient lead time to support scheduled production and avoid stockouts.
  14. Identify, document, and share suggestions for improvements to systems and processes, participating in root cause analysis sessions to increase effectiveness and productivity through continuous improvement.
  15. Support Plant Buyers and Inventory Coordinators during peak periods by performing MRP reviews, writing PO's, and following up with vendors.
  16. Prepare and monitor KPIs, including daily schedule conformance, weekly schedule conformance, protein requests and their fulfillment, adherence to economic batch quantity targets, and changeover percentage.
  17. Coordinate with Shipping and Receiving Manager on protein Supply Chain Transfers – inventory movements to external 3PL and interplant transfers.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Possession of Diploma or post-secondary qualification in mathematical and data analysis, statistics, materials resource planning, accounting, or business-related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrate history of success with production scheduling.
  • SYSPRO experience or similar ERP/MRP software tools and scheduling tools for production management.
  • Successful execution of projects requiring material requirements planning.
  • Administrative skills, as well as knowledge of production, shipping processes, and supply chain management.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team player able to coordinate multiple departments to achieve plant and company objectives.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this role is $58,000 - $63,000 per year. This figure is based on national averages and industry standards for similar positions. Actual compensation will depend on individual qualifications, experience, and location.
