Alberta Health Services (AHS) is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall well-being of individuals in their communities. We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Community Healthcare Specialist.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to patients, families, and communities, while prioritizing their safety and well-being. This role requires strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication and assessment abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct client care that meets established clinical standards and is evidence-based and client-centered.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care and health promotion services.
  • Participate in staff development and mentoring student clinical experiences.
  • Work independently in clients' homes, including congregate settings, single-family dwellings, condos, and walk-up apartments.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • An active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • A current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Two years of recent nursing experience obtained within the last 5 years or completion of a refresher program within 2 years.
  • Self-directed and ability to work independently using sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and efficiently organize many details in a timely manner.
  • Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Palliative care experience, previous Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience, and experience with Meditech, Connect Care, and the RAI Home Care assessment tool are also desirable.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $35.87-$43.82 per hour, with potential for adjustment upon entering the register of Registered Nurses. Please note that provisional permit holders shall be paid at the lower end of the salary range.
