About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to join our team at MCW Group of Companies. As a key member of our Mechanical and Electrical team, you will play a crucial role in managing mechanical engineering projects of various sizes and complexity in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage project activities from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality results.
  2. Develop and foster client relationships for long-term growth and success.
  3. Lead project teams in designing major engineering projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  4. Analyze client design proposals and specifications to determine cost-effective solutions.
  5. Provide guidance to clients, technical staff, and sub-consultants to ensure projects are technically sound and completed successfully.
  6. Offer professional quality services in all facets of work, including project management, engineering design, and client communication.
  7. Prepare and review specification and concept reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  8. Maintain project schedules and project cost summaries to track work progress, budget status, and manpower resource utilization.
  9. Identify and address the need for additional services and fees to clients in a timely fashion.
  10. Work with the field review team during the construction phase, ensuring ASHRAE compliance and LEED where applicable.
  11. Stay up-to-date with industry and technical trends, codes, and standards, applying this knowledge to improve project outcomes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  2. Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng.) in the Province of Alberta.
  3. 10+ years of engineering and/or design coordination experience in the consulting industry.
  4. Experience in multi-disciplined project coordination and management.
  5. LEED Certification is an asset.

You will also need to possess excellent time management and project management skills, as well as good planning and organizational skills. A self-starter mentality and willingness to take ownership of complex engineering problems are essential. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal effectively with clients and other personnel, are also required.

Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner, you will also need to have a comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, complemented with a strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices. Experience conducting site visits would be an asset.
