Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sports Facilities Coordinator to join our team at Douglas College. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Fitness Centre, Athletics, Recreation and Sport Science facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate facility scheduling and maintenance, ensuring the safe use of facilities and equipment.
  • Oversee the supervision of student assistants and ensure that all user groups comply with facility and department regulations.
  • Perform administrative support functions, including responding to inquiries, preparing correspondence and reports, and managing facility equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise the daily operation of positions under authority, ensuring processes and standards are followed and adequate staffing coverage within existing budget parameters.
  • Plan and implement fitness programming for individuals and groups, and collaborate with Sports Sciences Laboratory Technicians to schedule and facilitate lab services.
Requirements
  • Completion of a degree in Sports Science and/or Human Kinetics and/or Recreation, together with two years of related work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including a good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and respond effectively with the public, students, partners, and College employees.
  • Experience with and knowledge of fitness-related programming, safety procedures for fitness/athletic equipment, and contemporary web-based communication applications.
  • Valid B.C. Drivers' license or access to a reliable transportation to accommodate operational activities at all campuses.
